What a smokey day - ugh! That said, the Kindergarten students brought all the sunshine they had to our assembly. Congrats to the PM class for a fantastic presentation! I was so proud of them and their confidence! For the rest of the day we read about the life cycle of the butterfly and then working in pairs, re-created the life cycle. After a well-deserved center time, we then watched a short movie that showed us the life cycle of a monarch butterfly. Ask your child what they know about les chenilles et les papillions - it will be impressive! Have a great weekend!
Today the students participated in their last tennis lesson for the year in PE, continued with putting objects in order from biggest to smallest and smallest to biggest, practiced recess, and learned more about caterpillars and butterflies. Reminder to the PM class to practice for the assembly tomorrow!
What a beautiful day! Can we finally say that spring has arrived? Today the students enjoyed music with Mme Zdrill, practiced recess outside, and came up with a class set of rules on how to take care of the caterpillars once they arrive. We are also so fortunate to have received a massive donation of flashlights from Emily's family and have enough for everyone to start "lundi lampe de poche" on Monday! Merci beaucoup! Ask your child about the caterpillar story we read today - the caterpillar egg was in an apple. How did it get there?!?
Today the students enjoyed being outside during their PE class on tennis. In class, we worked on putting objects in order from biggest to smallest, and smallest to biggest. Tomorrow is library for the PM class, and we're still looking for 2 volunteers for June 11 for the AM class. Merci!
To kick off "Get Outside and Play" week, we went outside with our gr. 3 buddies today to play some games that incorporated counting and cooperation. Students also enjoyed music with Mme Zdrill, and we shared about our weekends with our Sharing Circle time. AM class also journaled about their weekend and the PM class started practicing for their assembly. We anticipate our caterpillars arriving some time this week - fingers crossed!
What a busy day! We started off by working on uploading some of our work into IRIS with our gr. 3 learning buddies, then the students did some role playing about the We Thinkers language we've been learning about. After snack, we went outside to practice recess, and then we journaled and had center time. If you weren't able to make it to the Volunteer Tea, I've added a picture of our 'thank you' display that we put up in the gym. Reminder, if you have a flashlight we can borrow until the end of the year, please send it in on Monday. Merci beaucoup!
Today we continued with our science inquiry by discussing what we already know about caterpillars and butterflies and then reading and discussing a book about a class who gets some (like us!). We also had a guest in from BOKS to lead us on some movement breaks. The AM class went to the library and the PM class went outside to practice recess.
Looking ahead to Monday: if you have a flashlight you don't mind lending us until the end of the year, can you please label it and send it in with your child? Merci beaucoup! Today, we started a science inquiry by trying to guess who our classroom "guests" are going to be next week. Using a series of clues, students tried to figure out by discussing in pairs and then the large group. After many great guesses and discussions, both classes were able to determine that next week we will be getting some caterpillars! Students also enjoyed heading over to the outdoor tennis courts for P.E. Reminder, tomorrow, the AM class will be visiting the library.
Bonjour! It sounds like you all had a fantastic long weekend! Today the students enjoyed music class, participated in our weekly sharing circle, and then journaled about what they shared. For sharing circle, we now add more details to our sharing, and today we tried to add those details into our drawings to make them more interesting too. The PM class also had their library book exchange. The last Scholastic flyer for the year went home today, and all orders (including any vouchers you have) will be due by June 10 at the latest, as I want to make sure the orders arrive before the end of the year. I am also still looking for 4 volunteers per class to join us on June 11 for our outdoor learning at Research Park. Merci!
Today was all about patterns. We built patterns, colored patterns and tried to determine which patterns were correct or incorrect. We also went to the gym to practice some tennis skills as well as had our last We Thinker lesson on 'whole body listening'. Reminder that there is no school tomorrow for students and that there is library on Tuesday for the PM class. Have a lovely long weekend!
